Rosewood Avenue Reopening Delayed

August 16, 2010

Due to construction delays, Rosewood Avenue in Camarillo will not open mid-August as planned.

Camarillo officials who released the information declined to provide specific reasons for the delays but did say the road should be open by the end of this month. The road has been closed south of Ponderosa Boulevard since last winter.

“There was actually nothing wrong with the road,” said Tom Fox, Public Works director for Camarillo told the Ventura County Star. “The County Watershed District needed to widen the storm channel along Ponderosa there and that meant removing the Rosewood bridge and closing the street,” he said.

The project is projected to cost $3.5 million, of which about $700,000 was paid for by the city. $450,000 of that was spent on sidewalks, tree planting, and landscaping along Ponderosa.
