Court Employees Get Whistleblower Protection

August 25, 2010

Governor Schwarzenegger recently signed a bill by state assembly member Audra Strickland, R-Camarillo, that extends whistle blower protection to court employees.

Driven by concerns over spending on a statewide computer system, the new legislation extends legal protection to employees of superior and appellate courts as well as administrative office employees who report “improper government activity” to the state auditor.

The law, AB 1749, passed through the legislature with little opposition and will take effect January 1, 2011.
