9 Year-Old Boy Shot in Face

August 19, 2010

A Camarillo boy is recovering after being shot in the face by his brother.

Paramedics and police were called to the home in the 2700 block of Antonio Avenue around 8:15 p.m.

Although the matter is still under investigation, police believe the 13 year-old brother accidentally fired a .45 caliber Glock handgun and one round entered the boy’s lower jaw and exited his cheek.

The boy was treated at Los Robles Hospital and Thousand Oaks and has been released.

Deputies and hospital staff would not release the names of the brothers because they are minors.

The Camarillo Police Department gives away free gun locks that are approved by the U.S. Department of Justice.
